Adorable...& Baby Wars!

I thought Nash looked adorable last night in this little outfit. He is all ready to go exercise with mom.... Just thought I would share...

These pictures are a little awkward...Bug has been so clinging to me this week, she always wants to sit on my lap....even when I am feeding Nash....this is Bug curling up around Nash's head on my lap. I think she is a little jealous!

My Sanity...

So every few hours (literally) when I see or talk to someone they ask me how I am doing without Darin...I am very grateful for this question but it seems my answer is always the same..."Fine...Nash is a great baby...yes he sleeps through the night...occasionally he wakes up once or twice...yes I feel very blessed...." and so on. The truth is I have a few things that keep me sane and happy in those moments when Nash looks like this...

Isn't that such a sad face...that is enough to break a mother's heart. The poor child I am learning to let him cry, those years of being a special ed teacher and ignoring behaviors has really come in handy!!! (FYI he is screaming right now!)

So how do I and the doggies (yes they suffer too!) keep sane? Well, here are a few of the most wonderful things in the whole world...

#1 is the JOGGING STROLLER! This was our best purchase ever!!! I love to run and because I just had Nash 4 weeks ago I am not yet able to fully get back into it completely. Not to mention my running partner is 9 months pregnant and moving to Idaho! I am going to miss you Heather!!! Nash and I make great use of the jogger by going walking in the morning with the mommies of the complex and walk/jog at night with Briana. I am so happy to be exercising and Nash enjoys the outdoors!

#2 is the swing! Notice the sad little face in the pictures, well that sad little face soon goes away when that swing starts rockin!!! I can get so much done with him rockin' out to the swing and it's music. Thank you Amy for letting us borrow it!!

And then there is the binki, he just accepted it this morning after some persuasion! He is not too fond of it yet but we are getting there. So with all these helps, Nash and I are enjoying our time together.

To update you on Darin, he made it to Michigan on Sunday (yes he drove), he went the route through Nauvoo so he could see all the flooding. Because of that he hit a couple of road blocks and it took a little longer but he made it. He started at the hospital yesterday (Monday) and was very positive when he called. It sounds like it will be a great experience for him!!

This is the face Nash gives when I tell him about his father....hehe. We love and miss you daddy!!!

Taken Care Of!

Our California friends are the best!!! Thank you to everyone that has brought me meals or who have invited me over for dinner. You all are so great! I can't believe how well everyone is taking care of Nash and I. I feel very blessed and well taken care of! THANK-YOU ALL!!!

#1: WHAT WAS I DOING TEN YEARS AGO?
10 years ago around this time I was about to start my senior year of high school, I am sure I was playing volleyball everyday with Beckie R. 4 wheeling or spotlighting deer and rabbits on black mesa with Jason L. and Regan R. Playing cards and hanging out at Toni Hurst's house with Brooke, Beckie, Bethany, Todd, Jesse, Scott, Taylor, Regan, Jason, Russell and whatever girls they were dating at the time. Those days were great.....I should have enjoyed being carefree more!

#2 WHAT ARE 5 THINGS ON MY "TO DO" LIST TODAY?
Today is almost over so my "to do" list for tomorrow is really pretty lame... my plan is to feed Nash, hopefully go for a walk in the morning with the mommies in the complex, feed Nash, take a shower, clean my house, feed Nash, endure the California heat and maybe go for another walk, and yet again feed Nash... I am learning the life of a mommy is very different, you revolve your
schedule around feeding times.

#3: SNACKS I ENJOY: Is there a snack that I don't enjoy!

#4: THINGS I WOULD DO IF I WAS A BILLIONAIRE: Pay off Darin's student loans!!!! Our parents have given us so much so I would buy them new houses, and pay off their bills. Then I would invest money, and do all the boring stuff so we can go on some awesome trips, and live comfortably!

Just the TWO of us!

Well the dreaded day has finally come.... Darin took off for Michigan this morning. Now it is just the two of us! It was really hard saying goodbye to Darin, but we are so proud of him. Way to go on making it to your 4th and final year of medical school!!! Darin will be in Michigan and Pennsylvania until September. He will be doing rotations in ER. These rotations are important because one of them could be where he will do his residency. So we may be moving to the east next year. CRAZY!!! I can't believe we are already looking into residency! WAY TO GO DARIN!!! WE MADE IT! (yes it was a joint effort...hehe...he needed a sugar mama to make the money...why do you think he married me a week before he started med school!)


Nash and I are hoping to go visit him in August, in his second Michigan rotation. However in the mean time we will be enjoying the California heat (over 100 degrees today!), and then we hope to take a trip to Utah in a couple of weeks to visit the family.


Tuesday, was a fun day, Nash and I took a trip to Mulberry Early Development Center where I had been teaching an autistic pre-school class. We were able to attend the graduation of the majority of my students. It was so fun to see my students faces when they saw me and I had a baby. Many of them didn't know what happened to me...they would poke my belly and then point to Nash and say "baby!" This was one of my favorite classes to teach! Each one of the students had unique personalities that made the class so much fun!! I will miss all the students and my 4 wonderful assistants! They were awesome and made going to work worth it!


Nash is growing so fast...when he was born he was 5 lbs 11 oz, after the graduation I took him to the New Beginnings Resource Center to see if I have been feeding him enough. The boy is now 7 lbs 10 oz!! The Nurse asked me if I was supplementing him with a bottle, because of the significant weight gain. I was proud to say NO! Nash is a lot like his mother, feeding time is serious business...we like our food! He is such a good baby, we feel so blessed to have him in our home.
We were able to take these pictures before Darin left on his trip today. Not the most flattering but it was fun anyway! Good luck Darin!!! We love and miss you!!!

Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated Darin's first Father's Day yesterday(Sat.) by going on a walk to the Claremont Village to have some Sushi. It was our first family outing. Christina left Darin to pay the bill. He also made his own father's day dinner. Curry. Yum. (bitterness as you can see!) It was such a hot day, we really enjoyed being outside. Nash also gave Darin a special surprise for Father's day. Darin didn't know that poo could shoot out that far. (thats my boy!)








We had a nice relaxing father's day with an afternoon of naps. Even the dogs took part.
Happy Father's day. We'll miss you daddy. We hope your fathers had a happy father's day too.

Failed Pacifier!

Last night we decided to introduce the pacifier to Nash....he didn't like it. We tried all sizes of pacifiers, but every time it was in his mouth he would begin gagging! Either they were all too big for his little bitty mouth or he is a wimp and won't take it....we will try again!

Newborn Clothes!

Nash's new nickname is "Gerd"...thanks to Darin. Nash loves to gurgle and spit up...thus the nick name "Gerd". Darin says it stands for "Gastro-Esophageal-Reflux-Disease" or aka "ACID REFLUX." Poor little guy. We now have a bib on him at all times. Any suggestions on how to help him?

Tonight we gave him a bath and took more pictures. He is starting to love baths. I decided to try again putting newborn clothes on him and guess what! They fit!!! We were so excited that we took a picture. He looked like such a big boy.

We Love Grandparents!

Nash is almost 3 weeks old! I can't believe how fast he is growing! He loves to stretch and grunt, Grandma Willardson calls it "growing stretches." I think I agree with her. He is not a baby that likes to be swaddled, he needs to have his hands free so he can stretch and make his gang signs! I believe the life of a baby is a life that all of us would enjoy. You just eat, sleep and poop. What a life! Actually, we have enjoyed many of those luxuries with having both sets of parents here helping us get back on our feet. We feel so blessed to have such great parents that have helped us so much! Thanks a ton! We feel a little more settled since having your help, but then again we feel scared out of our minds to be parents.

Joining the Crowd

A good friend convinced me today that I needed to create a blog to keep in touch with others and to show off our growing family. For weeks I have enjoyed reading the blogs of friends but never had a desire to start my own. We will just have to see how this goes. I am sure the grandma's and my husband will enjoy the posts as they are away from baby Nash. So the Willardson Family is now joining the crowd.
