Christmas Fun!

Nash's first Christmas was so much fun!  We loved having both sets of parents here in California with us.  The weather was pretty rainy, so we were not able to do to much.  However relaxation is always the greatest part of the holidays!
In my family Christmas breakfast is the main feast.  We choose our favorite breakfast and my mom makes it.  Sometimes we have a HUGE amount of food such as steak, eggs, fried potatoes, and of course hot milk toast or creamed eggs, all in the same meal!  I love this tradition but was not motivated to do that much work....so we all chipped in and had some yummy crepes and scrabbled eggs.  YUM YUM!

Opening presents was so relaxed. It was nice to sleep in, get ready and eat breakfast before we opened presents.  I don't know when we will have that kind of Christmas morning again!
My brother Kedrick's family gave Nash the cutest lumber jack outfit.  He looks like Elmer Fud when he is wearing it.  I will take more picks because it is so dang cute!
Nash received so many fun presents.  Thank you to all! I can't believe he is big enough to play with toys!  It is scary how fast kids grow up.
I don't know what Christmas was like before our little man!  Christmas just seemed to mean more this year with Nash.  It was fun receiving presents (Darin spoiled me too much this year...do you think he feels guilty about leaving me for 5 months?)but I think the best part of the whole holiday is the time spent with family!

Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone! It has been too long!

Great news....

I have my computer back and everything is functioning WONDERFULLY! AND our roof and ceiling are both completely repaired....YEAH!

We really have been so busy the past couple of weeks! Time is moving so quickly!
Darin finished up his Ear Nose and Throat rotation in Riverside today. He really liked this rotation and was matched up well with a great doctor. I loved this rotation because he was home early most nights and he had almost all Friday's off. Next up is Orthopedics at Arrowhead Hospital...which means some on call nights...blah. He was also able to fly back to Pennsylvania this past weekend for another residency interview. I am so looking forward to February when we find out where we will be going! I have already started packing. I love to dejunk, it relaxes me!

And I need to be relaxed! I have been so busy taking pictures and making other peoples Christmas cards I was once again a slacker and didn't get as many Christmas Cards out as I wanted to. I am just happy I actually made one for our family this year. If I didn't get a card out to you, please consider this a Holiday Wish from our family to yours!

By the way I do have a blog for photography and card designs, I have been updating it more lately because of the Christmas season. It is private but if you would like to be added to it I would be happy to share.

MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

Blogging Withdrawals!

Lately, I have been having major blogging withdrawals. Here are the top 5 reasons I have not been a more frequent blogger lately....

1. My computer hard drive crashed during Christmas Card Season.....stress!

2. Darin's laptop hates me, Photoshop and my camera. (I take offense to this because these are two of my loves in life! And this is the reason for no blog updates.)

3. The post office has decided we no longer live in our apartment and is not delivering our mail! (Thus we didn't get important documents such as our student loan installment, Darin's residency match packet, and my Photoshop update cd so Darin's computer will like me again.)

4. We have a freaking hole the size of the Grand Canyon in Nash's ceiling and it is still not fixed, and we haven't received any word as to when it will be fixed! (So we are living with crickets and dragon flies...yes I said that right dragon flies???? And Nash can't sleep in our room!)

5. We miss our families! (Nash and I loved being in Utah with our families and now we are going into withdrawals for them....thanks for letting us stay! We hope to keep you updated soon on the blog.)

But on the brighter side....
1. I have all orders for Christmas Cards completed despite the love/hate relationship with Darin's computer....if any of you are interested in cards for the holidays let me know, I will direct you to my website!

2. I am running again...and losing weight...YEAH....I LOVE our jogging stroller!

3. Nash is the cutest baby in MY world! (I don't want to offend the other mothers out there!) He is teething, almost sitting up and eating solid foods (hates peas). I LOVE my baby boy!

4. Darin is in an easy rotation and we see a ton of him right now! We have taken 2 trips together, one to San Diego (we love that place!), and then to Laughlin, Nevada (not the greatest place to go with a baby...Darin had a interview in Kingman, AZ so we decided to go with him.) I LOVE my husband!

5. I am excited to take pictures of some friends this weekend...I LOVE my camera!

6. We are grateful for our friends here in California! They are family to us...thank you for being so kind, understanding, and patient with us! We LOVE you guys!

Anyway for the bad reasons listed above I will not be posting on this blog for a while. A blog just isn't good with out pictures! (my opinion). The great part is because of the good list I will be busy and happy! I will have lots of pictures to post when my computer is fixed or when Darin's computer decides to be my friend.

Which is worse?

Which is worse? Being a one car family? Or a one computer family? For us A ONE COMPUTER FAMILY! My laptop hard drive crashed last week...sigh. It was only 5 month old so it is under warranty and I was able to get all my pictures off... YEAH! Sad for me, but more sad for Darin because he now has to share his laptop with me. When did we become so technology spoiled! Losing my computer is like losing my right arm!

6 Month Check-up

Nash had his 6 month check-up on Tuesday. He is now 26 3/4 inches long (50th percentile), 15 lbs (10th percentile), and his head was 17 inches (25th percentile). HE'S A GROWING BOY! We are now starting him on solids and Darin says lard...whatever! Now we just need to wait until after the mad rush of black Friday to get a high chair. You all know how much I like shopping...blah! :)

The Sky is Falling!

Chicken Little should have come to our house! A few weeks ago our friend Missy, who was caring for our house, called to let us know she had found a hole in Nash's ceiling. We notified our landlord but ended up coming home to this....

Notice the huge bubble. Our landlord didn't want to fix this hole until it rained again, in order to find the leak. Today, we were unpacking Nash's things, and this is what happened due to the rain... Yes this was very scary to have the roof crashing down on us, considering Nash was laying on the floor watching us unpack. As we were cleaning up the mess on the floor caused by the crash, it continued to fall until it looks like this....

Happy Thanksgiving to us! Nash is now sleeping in our room. The poor little boy will never get to sleep in his own crib!

Gone Truckin'

Our world here in Blanding revolves around this place....
My dad's shop! My dad is a trucker...well the boss of a trucking company now...and a dang good one! He owns Cosby Trucking Inc. The company started with my Grandpa Cosby, and now is operated by my WHOLE dang family. My mom is the President (another story) and book keeper, my dad is the boss, brother Cody is the safety man, brother Kedrick is a mechanic and driver (little boss:), and my SIL Ashley is another book-keeper. Amazingly they all work pretty well together to keep it all running. Right now they are all busy with a big job with 22 trucks, and 32 drivers. Needless to say my dads mind is always preoccupied.

Today I had some fun at the shop taking pictures.

This truck is old red and white 34, my dad drove this truck when I was a kid. Now it is retired and sits in the back of the shop yard as a "has been trophy". Basically it is my dads baby and he won't get rid of it.

I haven't said much about my dad, but he is one of my heroes. He is a very hard worker and a great example in honesty and integrity. I was very appreciative for my dad when I became stranded or lost somewhere (happens often). He knows everyone and has been everywhere. I love my dad and I am grateful for the time we had to spend here in Blanding.
This picture is classic of my dad. He loves his grand kids...but he loves his dogs most! Especially this grouchy old dog Chico. LOVE YA DAD!

Woman in Action!

Just thought I would post a picture of my mom in action! She is always busy busy doing something. This is a quilt she finished this week. (along with all of my projects!) It will hang in the Blanding Visitor Center for the Christmas Holidays. Way to go mom! For those of you that go to the visitor center ever the centennial quilt in the very front of the center my mom made the corner block with the cows. That quilt is amazing! All of my moms quilts are beautiful....she is a talented woman!

We miss you and look forward to seeing you next week!

Our Invention! (maybe)

Here at my moms house there is always a project going on. My mom is very talented and she often tries to teach me how to sew...or rather she starts to teach me then ends up finishing it for lack of patients! (How do you think I always won the 4H sewing blue ribbons at the county fair...it certainly wasn't my sewing or modeling skills...sorry Jeanine and Bethany....the truth comes out!)

This time around she has decided to finish all my Christmas projects which include my homemade Christmas presents for family and friends, Nash's Christmas stocking, and a Christmas wall hanging for my house....while I play with Nash and take pictures....I LOVE MY MOM! (BTW no doubt about it she will complete all of these projects within a week...all the Christmas presents are done and it is only MONDAY!)

Anyway, so you all have heard me complain about Nash and his crazy hands! Sure he inherited this trait from me...my hands and feet never stop moving even when I am asleep. (when we were kids Brooke (cousin) didn't want to sleep in the same bed with me because my feet wandered!) When I got to Blanding I decided I was going to stop swaddling Nash...I tried it for 2 WEEKS! Lets just say I became a zombie because of it! His wild arms kept him and me up all night long! (hence the ogre picture) I tried closing his door and my door as well as turning off the monitor so he could cry himself to sleep. No luck....This child will cry forever! So I went back to the Don Jose Burrito Baby Swaddle (see former post) so I could get some sleep...NOPE he is too strong, busted right out...we invested in the Kiddopotamus...TRY AGAIN the material was too stretchy he could worm his arms to the top and wake himself right up! SO being the mean mommy that I am, and having a talented sewing mother we invented the NASHAROO STRAIGHT JACKET!!!! (at least I think we invented it??)
This thing is awesome and he sleeps wonderfully with only maybe 1-2 wake ups in the night, compared to the 10-50! (hehe) The arm holders are large enough for him to bend his arm comfortably, but he cannot pull them out to reach his face. At first he resisted, as anyone would when their freedom is taken away, but now look at him ...HAPPY BABY! (equals HAPPY MOMMY!) Once again I LOVE MY MOTHER! So to all of you that may think I am cruel...think what you want....I am getting some sleep! ZZZZZzzzzzzz!!!

Uncle Cody!

It has been so fun being in Blanding while Darin has been away. (sad that he is gone!) Nash receives so much love. I believe his most favorite person here is Uncle Cody. This picture says it all! When Cody is around Nash constantly is smiling and paying attention to him. Not only does Nash love Cody he loves his puppy Sancho. He is his favorite out of all the dogs. He thinks Sancho is here for his enjoyment and has the cutest belly giggle when Sancho prances around him.
We are so lucky to have such great families! Thanks for letting us stay for a while!

Trick or Treat...kind of!

So the moodiness continued on through out the day so I was tempted to postpone Halloween...and yes I can do that because I'M THE MOM! However after a good nap, our sweet boy returned and I put his Smarties costume on only to make him angry...again! Moodiness and all we hopped in the car and caught up to Koen and Sadie trick or treating at my dad's shop. This was Nash's only stop considering he thought his costume was edible and began to eat it...he was starving! AND lets just face it, if we had gone to any other house the candy would have come home to feed my mouth...not a good thing! The rest of the night Nash helped Granny hand out candy in his Long John Cowboy outfit which ended up being his favorite choice. Moral of the story...keep the Halloween costume simple for a HAPPY BABY and a HAPPY MOMMY!
We missed you Darin! Hope your Halloween was just as sweet!
The climax of the whole night was when my mom opened the door to a HUGE GORILLA costume. It didn't just say "trick or treat" it actually began screaming and chasing her up our stairs. She was screaming and running as fast as she could....HILARIOUS! (it was Kirk Black). One year when we were kids, 3 HUGE GORILLAS came to our house and sat in our living room saying nothing, and then left with out a word...some Blanding psychopaths! (we still do not know who it was) SOoooo I think my mom is a little jumpy when it comes to over sized apes!

Happy Halloween!

This is NOT the costume we chose for Halloween, BUT our smiley little boy turned into a GREAT BIG GRUMPY OGRE today! So I decided to make him more mad at me by taking his picture in the ogre costume for laughs. As you can see Nash didn't think it was very funny! ...HAHA!!!!

Tongue Discovery!

Nash is 5 months old today and has discovered his tongue. He just couldn't keep it under control today. I am pretty sure that comes from my mom's side of the family...those Hurst's are lost with out their tongues...especially while concentrating!

We can't decide!

My mom found these Halloween costumes for Nash. We can't decide which one we like the most. What do you all think? Should Nash be.....
#1 SHREK
#2 SMARTIES
#3 LONG JOHN COWBOY
And yes if we choose the Long John Cowboy he will match his mother the LONG JOHN COWGIRL! Embarrassing I know...but I couldn't resist when I found them here at my parents house...thank goodness we went private! ;) hehe

Farewell Daddy...Hello Mommy...AGAIN!

Okay I am not lost or dead to the world! I have been crazy busy with Christmas Cards and Pictures. I really wanted to do a post with pictures but for some odd reason the blogger picture thing hates me. So I will continue to work on that so I do not have boring posts like the one that you are about to read...

Nash and I are back in Blanding with my family. We were able to spend a fun month in California with Darin, and now he is off again to Pennsylvania for another month. Nash and I dropped Darin off at the airport in SLC and then met up with my mom and dad to travel to Blanding. All of us were in different cars, and I have to say I will probably never travel alone with Nash for that amount of time again. He screamed the whole way...minus the time when when he fell asleep just south of Monticello. Yes, I had 15 minutes of quiet. He was tired of being in the car seat. He did great on the trip from California to Utah, but Darin or I were able to entertain him. Crazy child he must get that from Darin! (hehe) I was able to keep my sanity by listening to the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. I am really on a Da Vinci Code kick right now. However I did join the band wagon and started the Twilight series....I don't know...kind of a lot of fluff....not much thinking...great for late night feedings...

WE MISS YOU DARIN!

Nash's Blessing Day

This is a cute storyboard that I did of Kenzie and Nash. They were so cute at Nash's blessing, they looked like they were sharing secrets but really Nash was so hungry he was trying to suck on Kenzies head...haha!
We are so happy that the LaRue Family could come for the blessing...thanks for making the trip you guys are great friends, and we miss you a ton in California!

I haven't posted much about Nash's baby blessing. It was on September 14th in Orem. We were able to have so many friends and family there (around 65)! Thanks to all who came! We also want to give a big thank you to our moms and sister-in-laws for making the food and allowing us to have the picnic afterwards at the Willardson residence! YEAH FOR FAMILY!
The Chidesters my mission family came. We had to force Matthew to hold Nash for the picture. He faked a heart problem to get him off his lap..."OH MY HEART!" ...haha...
This is a picture of some of the fun happenings at the picnic. I am sad I didn't get a picture of more people there! Thanks to Kara she snapped these fun pictures.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the day. Nash loves his grandmas!

All of Darin's brothers were there. They haven't been all together since our wedding. They were fun to watch play and wrestle with each other. Such a handsome bunch!

Thanks to all that came to support Nash on this important day!

I will post pictures of my family later....last time I posted pictures of my mom with out cleaning them up first she was ticked! haha!

Bubbly Kisses!

Isn't this face so hysterically cute! He would pucker up and give us bubbly kisses!
By the way Suzie F. if you are reading this I love all the new actions you introduced me to in Photoshop! It makes taking pictures so much fun...thanks for the helpful hints!

First trip to Disneyland!

I think the greatest perk about living in Southern California is it is a common place for family vacations...so we get to see a lot of family and friends. This week Darin's brother and his family came down to go to Disneyland. We met up with them on Friday and spent the day with them there. It was Nash's first time at the "happiest place on earth" and he was so good.

This is Nash during the Haunted House Ride. He quietly looked around at everything. I kept the binky close by just in case he had a sudden urge to SCREAM...he never did...thank goodness!
He really liked the Winnie the Pooh ride because of all the bright lights and colors. It is good he liked it so well since he went on it 2 or 3 times while the adults took turns riding Splash Mountain.

The machine said "measure your sex appeal on this love meter" Trevor earned a "Blah" score! HAHA

It's so fun being a parent!

All tuckered out!
