July 4th, 2009

I LOVE THE 4th of JULY!!!  There wasn't too much going on around our area so we decided to let Nash take all of his naps at home, so we could enjoy a night of festivities.  Darin and I took advantage of those naps too, so we were ALL fully rested!

We joined 2 other resident families for a REAL southern BBQ!  Our friend Adrian is from the south and is the master at barbecuing!  In fact I asked Darin if he wanted to have them over for a BBQ and Darin said "NO WAY!  Adrian would make fun of our grill!"  I now understand that statement.  I regret not getting a picture of the man barbecuing he is pretty serious about his barbecue. He made us the best smoked barbecue chicken.... (BTW all of these pictures look like they were taken with a cell phone...I had my camera on the wrong mode the whole night so most of them are fuzzy and poor quality...sigh...sad)
YUMMY!
This is Darin's jello.  He made it strawberry flavor with blueberries inside and then the design on top is supposed to make it look like a flag...That boy has SKILLS I TELL YOU!
This little man was so LOUD during dinner.  I have never been so embarrassed.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to teach a 1 year old to not do chirping shrieks? Do you think a barker breaker would be too cruel?  EHHHH just kidding, but seriously I am open for suggestions!
We had a gorgeous sunset!
After the BBQ we went over by Dorney Amusement Park to watch the fireworks.
US!
Nick and Kristen.  (they are the only other LDS first year residents)
Lizette and Olivia.  Sweet little Olivia is 2 months old and she loved the fireworks!  It is hard to believe that  Nash was that old last 4th of July.  Poor Adrian had to work that night so he stayed home with their son little Adrian to get some rest before work....and to recover from Nash's screams I am sure!
The gang!
Darin and Nick played bad mitten to pass the time until the fireworks started.
Nash sat quietly watching the fireworks.  Yes he still has his BIG BLUE binky, but only on certain shrieking occasions! ;)
It wasn't a long firework show but it was pretty good...we enjoyed it!
This is my favorite holiday of the year!  We have so much to be grateful for as well as be proud of.  I am so grateful Darin, Nash and I were together this year for the 4th.  Family is so important.  We miss all of our families back home too.  By the way I have investigated from the west coast to the east coast and it is true there is no place like Blanding on the 4th of July!

Nash will grow out of that attention getter, and I agree
THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME...BLANDING.

Remember when we were driving in the car and Jayden would scream EVERY TIME you and I talked... Welcome to that stage..he he :) It's frustrating huh! Sorry I don't have much advice (you know my kids and how loud they are), but I agree with Cathy Cosby (your mom I believe???) it will get better. Don't feel so bad about it...other parents should all understand!

So does Nash only grow hair on the top of his head in that Mohawk shape or did you shave it like that. Either way its awesome.
