Palmyra with the Blacks...

We rented a van, picked up my dad from the airport and hit the road for Palmyra, New York.  Nash thought he was pretty cool dude as he sported his awesome shades and new booster seat.

The dress rehearsal for the Hill Cumorah Pageant was that night. We wanted to make it in time to go with Brother and Sister Black who are serving a temple mission for the next 6 months in Palmyra.  We made it just in time to eat some yummy food Sister Black prepared for us and met up with Brother Black and his french friends Christian and Paula (?).  I am sold on attending the pageant on dress rehearsal night.  There were no crowds and it was a bit more entertaining as they worked out the kinks.

They next day we joined them at the Witmer Farm, shopping at a Mennonite store and then a birthday dinner for my dad.
The Black's home away from home.  Most of the trailers and motor homes surrounding them are other temple missionaries.
Darin and Nash took a tour of the old broken down fire engine next door.  Sister Black asked Nash what he thought of the engine he said "IT WAS DIRTY!"  Oh great...I have a city boy!
 Nash loves grandad...

And I think it is safe to say Grandad loves Nash. :)
There was a language barrier with Christian and Paula.  Although we could tell that she wanted to hold Asa and was SO HAPPY when we offered him to her.

Sister Black is one of my FAVORITE people.  Her smile has brighten my world for as long as I can remember.  I have so many fun memories with the Blacks!
Nash was a big helper with trying to light the 62 candles.
My mom gave up and Darin gave it a try...
Sister Black and I shielded the wind and it finally lit.

The birthday boy was pretty happy, and it looks like he had a little help blowing out the candles from the munchin in the background.  Happy Birthday Dad!
Sometimes I post pictures for motivation to lose weight. This is one of them...
Not to mention it has some of my favorite people.
